New Life Christian Assembly of Toronto (NLCAT) is in the northwest section of the City of Toronto, Canada. We are an evangelical church dedicated to the principles of the Holy Bible and live according to the Word, so that others may see and believe that Jesus came and died, to save us from our sins. The church has been in existence since August 07, 1988, and began worshipping at its current location, 573 Albion Road, on November 15, 1995. The congregants are mainly of Caribbean heritage.
There is a service on Sunday – a Divine Morning Worship Service at 11:15a.m. There is also a mid-week online Prayer and Bible Study session . Revival services have been held at various times over the years. All believers at NLCAT are encouraged to pray and read/study the Word habitually.
There are many activities occurring within the church. Worthy of note are the Easter and Christmas presentations by the choir, children’s presentations, Good Friday Brunch, and summer picnics. There are also concerts/hymn sings and other events planned throughout the year. These events are all open to members of the community.
There are approximately 65 members and affiliates of the church, coming from various backgrounds and socio-economic strata. Although most of the members do not live within the community, those that do will often bring in guests. As a church within the community, we always extend a warm welcome to visitors and our outreach programs can attest to this as a focus of the church.
The age groups of our members/congregants can be roughly broken down as follows:
Under 18 | 14% | 18 – 34 | 13% |
35 – 64 | 27% | 65+ | 46% |
Formerly an independent body, New Life Christian Assembly of Toronto became an affiliate of the Associate Gospel Churches of Canada (AGC) on August 28, 2005. As a member of this larger family, we mutually enhance our spiritual growth and share ideas. We invite you to continue browsing this website for additional information on AGC.
There is one full time pastoral position which is vacant now. A team of elders supports the pastor in the spiritual matters of the church. A team of deacons bears responsibility for the administrative functioning of the church, which includes property, financial management, record keeping, public relations, and hospitality. Both teams comprise the Official Board of the church.
The church property consists of one main building (which includes a sanctuary, fellowship hall, two small offices, a library, a nursery, a reception area, and kitchen facilities. Above the church, there is a three-bedroom unit with kitchen and washroom facilities. The church (sanctuary, fellowship hall, office, kitchen, and washroom facilities) is rented by another church on Sundays. Their Divine Worship Service starts shortly after the completion of NLCAT’s. NLCAT normally has a one-year renewable contract with this church. The property is fully owned by NLCAT, as the mortgage was paid off at the end of February 2023.
There is adequate parking for approximately thirty (30) vehicles, including designated spaces for disabled drivers. Along the southeast side of the church is a green space owned by the City of Toronto. The city has allowed NLCAT to use this space for outdoor activities, provided that we maintain the integrity of the conservation area of which it is a part.
